Our Treble Trophy Tour celebrations have continued with a special visit to our community project in Bandung, Indonesia, where young leaders are empowering city youth through football.

Young Leaders and project participants were delighted to welcome Club Legend Shaun Wright-Phillips and the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Super Cup trophies to Bandung, where the Club has funded a Cityzens Giving project since 2017.

The celebrations opened with percussion and Jaipong performances – a traditional Sundanese dance – before young leaders showed Wright-Phillips around the Rumah Cemara project centre. The centre had been refurbished in the run up to the event, with the Club hosting a special community volunteer day which included organising a clean-up, providing water access, decorating, and painting a bespoke Manchester City mural.

During his visit, Wright-Phillips was impressed to see the mural that local artists had created, and the City Legend was invited to add the finishing touches to the Club crest.

The day also included a Q&A session with young leaders and members of the new Bandung Official Supporters Club (OSC), who had participated in the volunteering day and were delighted to have the opportunity to ask Shaun about his Man City career.

A highlight of the event was a visit to a community football session, run by young leaders who are using football to empower children and educate them on the risks of substance abuse. The session ended with Shaun taking part in a 5-a-side match with participants, before Club mascot Moonchester even made a special appearance!

Speaking about the event, Shaun Wright-Phillips said: “It’s been fantastic visiting our community project to hear from the young leaders about the amazing work they are doing to help uplift young people in the local community through football.

“As the Club continues to grow on a global scale, it is important we support communities not only in Manchester but across the world and our Citzyens Giving project and its young leaders are central to achieving this.”

Restu, a young leader at the project who previously visited City Football Academy in Manchester for the Young Leaders Summit, said: “It was an extraordinary experience to meet Shaun – he was so friendly, and he inspires many children to play football.

I never imagined that I would be able to see these trophies in person as I’d only ever seen them on television. What an amazing two days it’s been – thank you Manchester City!”
