Manchester City is encouraging supporters to consider alternative forms of transport on matchday by relaunching the Walk to the Match initiative for the Premier League game with Everton.

Having worked closely with Manchester City Council, an improved designated walking route from the city centre to the Etihad Stadium will relaunch with a special sustainable walk to the match before the game on New Year’s Eve (kick off 3:00pm UK time).

As well as offering a sustainable and healthy alternative way to get to matches, there will be plenty of entertainment for fans that come along, including face painting and a marching band.

Join us at the meeting point at 1:45pm on Pollard Street opposite the Ibis hotel, with the walk beginning at 1:55pm.

A brass band will lead the way as will our match day Playmakers. There will be an opportunity to hold one of our walk to the match flags and you will be able to get your game face on with our face painters who will also be present.

Those wishing to take the route can download the map here. Follow @ManCityHelp for updates and use the hashtag, #walktothematch.

The March will end in City Square to a final performance on stage from the brass band.

First launched in 2019, the scheme proved popular until the Covid-19 pandemic forced games to be played behind closed doors and we are delighted to be able to bring it back.

Why not give it a go if you’ve not tried it before and bring the New Year to the Etihad while helping the environment?
