The Blues are behind Manchester City Council’s drive to promote apprenticeships to young people and employers across the city - and have expanded their own apprenticeship scheme by taking on three new recruits to work for their City in the Community Foundation (CITC).
The new apprentices, aged from 17 – 25, work on a range of community programmes, from health and education projects to disability sports, multi-sports and anti-social behaviour initiatives.
CITC currently engages with around 230,000 young people per year and plans are in place to expand its reach by introducing extra community programmes - which will in turn allow City to take on more young people as apprentices.
Head of CITC Delivery Mike Green is leading the expansion of the scheme, as part of the club’s strategic aim to support the regeneration of East Manchester.
He said: “Community is at the heart of Manchester City.”
“The Club is delighted to contribute further to the sustainable development of this region by offering local people life-long learning and employment opportunities.
“Working in partnership with Manchester City Council, we look forward to seeing the long term positive effects on the communities around us.”
Over 200 different types of apprenticeships are available across many different industries and business types. Recruitment is typically based upon an individual’s competency for a role, rather than their academic record.
