This was another example of the club’s sustained commitment to the local community and sharing the success of the first-team with local people.
A total of 19 Manchester primary and secondary schools had the opportunity to have the trophies present in school for a couple of hours.
Each school received a brief talk from a member of CITC about City’s success last season and were then allowed the opportunity to ask questions about the trophies. The pupils and teachers then had the chance to have photographs with the trophies.
Maureen Hughes from Ravensbury Primary School said: “We just wanted to say a big thank you for not only giving us the opportunity to have the Capital One Cup but also the Premier League Trophy in our school. The children (and staff) loved it!’”
Daniel Landstrom, Football and Multi Sport Manager at City, said “The trophy tour is a great reward for the pupils and teachers that we work with throughout the year and a brilliant way to share the success we have had on the pitch last season. It’s fantastic to see how excited all the children, especially the City fans, become when they get to see the trophies.”
City in the Community aim to ‘empower people through football’ and deliver community programmes through four main themes; Football and Multi Sports, Skills and Enterprise, Health and Activity and Community Cohesion.
All the schools involved in the trophy tour received this fantastic opportunity as a result of engaging in one our community projects throughout the season.
