Today marks the first day of a week-long celebration to highlight all the work the Club’s Foundation, City in the Community do all year round. From not to miss competitions, to dedicating Saturday’s Fulham match to the Foundation, we’ll bring you a jammed packed week to bring you up to speed on all the inspirational work going on.

Community has always been at the heart of Manchester City Football Club both at home and abroad. Formed in 1986, City in the Community (CITC) Foundation is underpinned on the principle that football is a powerful tool that can uplift communities and tackle a wide range of social problems. This lies at the heart of everything we do at CITC and is what gets us up in the morning and the reason why we exist.

One of our key aims is to empower people through football. We do this by delivering  a wide range of programmes across four main themes:  Football and Multi Sports,  Skills and Enterprise, Health and Activity and Community Cohesion.

It’s not just a beautiful game but is a force that can be used to uplift our world and our city. We see this in action across Manchester every day. This season, we have already delivered over 28,000 hours of programmes and worked with almost 267,000 contacts - more than ever before.

Over the seasons, our players have been instrumental in supporting City in the Community and raising awareness that we are making a difference through the power of football.

Striker Alvaro Negredo surprises local children from Ashbury Meadows Primary School and helps  CITC staff deliver a Spanish lesson from with the tablets donated by IPC.

Joleon Lescott takes a visit to City in the Community’s dragons den themed Enterprise City project with a local school.
