Local boys and girls, aged six to 14, were able to take part in a range of fun and exciting sessions, providing them with a healthy and educational activity for the holiday.
City in the Community was also delighted to offer over 250 match day tickets to participants, giving them the opportunity to experience the Etihad Campus; from training pitch to stadium.
Half-term week also saw 12 local junior football teams train at City Football Academy, including Newton Heath JFC, New Mills and Chadderton Park.
Andrew Walkden, whose son attended the sessions, said: “We were both blown away by the standard of the facilities and coaching.
“We originally had the idea of signing him up to give him practice at making new friends; he is autistic, and is a bit anxious about starting secondary school in September, so I was very happy to see him getting on well with the other kids in his training groups.”
Lee Mannion, Community Football Coordinator, said: “Our Soccer Schools provide children of all abilities with the opportunity to take part in free football and half-term proved to be a great success.
“Over 340 students took part during the five day programme and it was great to see them develop over each session. We’re looking forward to continuing the Soccer Schools over the rest of the season.”
