Manchester City Football Club is once again proud to be supporting Fare’s Football People fortnight of action, designed to challenge discrimination and celebrate diversity in football.

The campaign, which runs from 8-22 October, aims to bring people together and make football accessible to everyone regardless of their age, race, gender, disability or sexuality.

Manchester City and City in the Community has organised a range of exciting events and programmes to help give discrimination in football the boot. October also sees Black History Month celebrated at the Club. 

Alex Williams, City in the Community Ambassador, shared his thoughts on supporting this campaign.

He said: “Football is a powerful tool that brings people of all backgrounds and cultures together and it’s important that we continue to do our bit to ensure that discrimination in football is not tolerated and that diversity is celebrated.

“We continue to work with valued partners each season including Kick It Out, Football v Homophobia and Level Playing Field and Fare’s Football People is another great campaign that our staff, players and fans can be a part of over the next couple of weeks.

“The Club is committed to promoting equality of opportunity, diversity and respect across all its activities. From the programmes we deliver in the community to the way we operate, we continue to ensure equality is embedded within the heart of all our activities.”

The fortnight of action kicks off with City in the Community hosting a National Amputee Camp at City Football Academy and will see Alex Williams leading an assembly at a local school about the importance of Black History Month and his experience growing up.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from women players, community coaches and even photographers who work behind the scenes every day to make football an even more incredible sport.

Fans attending MCFC v Bournemouth fixture on 17 October will be able to show their support and learn a bit more about our ongoing support for Fare and how they can be part of the change.
