Supporters can get their hands on the unique Manchester City pin from the CityStore - which symbolises the Club’s on-going support for the Royal British Legion - and will be worn by MCFC boss, Manuel Pellegrini.
Continuing its long association, the Club is welcoming Royal British Legion servicemen and volunteers to the Norwich fixture, as they take over the Etihad Stadium with a bucket collection.
This year’s activity will also focus around the Aston Villa away fixture on Sunday 8 November, where the players will be wearing embroidered match shirts with the poppy motif. Fans will be able to get involved by bidding for these collector’s items through the Royal British Legion’s auction site.
Tina Pringle, The Royal British Legion’s Community Fundraiser for Greater Manchester said: “The generosity of City fans towards the Poppy Appeal over the years has been fantastic.
“These new pin badges, produced in collaboration between the Legion and Manchester City Football Club, are the perfect way for fans to show their support for the Poppy Appeal directly alongside their team colours.
“All money raised through the badges goes directly to the Legion’s work providing life-long support to anyone who is currently serving in the British Armed Forces, who has previously served, and their families.”
Mike Green, Head of City in the Community, commented: “The Club is proud to support the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal each season and we are looking forward to taking this one step further with a collaborative pin badge.
“The Legion’s work is entirely dependent on the generosity of its supporters, and we hope that the Manchester City fans will join us in wearing their poppies with pride.”
A number of limited edition pins are now available at CityStore and at City@Home at the Etihad Stadium.
All money raised from the pins will go directly to the Royal British Legion, which provides care to all members of the British Armed Forces, past and present and their families.
