While youngsters have previously had to wait until they were six-years-old to join City in the Community, this brand new session offers more children than ever the chance to learn the basics of the game, before they join the rest of the groups.
The hour-long session, which runs every Wednesday from 4.30-5.30pm on the Aabar community pitch at City Football Academy, encourages children to not only develop their social skills, but to learn what it means to live a healthy lifestyle from an early age.
Joshua Black, CITC Community Coach, said: “We’ve had a great response since launching our new session earlier this month and we hope to see more youngsters joining us over the coming weeks.
“Classes will include a focus on the basic skills of football for first-timers, as well as team-work and lots of fun in a safe environment!”
The scheme is part of CITC’s on-going work in the local community to promote the power of the beautiful game and the benefits that come with playing sport.
‘Football for Fives’ sessions are completely free and are held at City Football Academy, Car Park entrance via Wilson Street. Pitch entrance via Connell College, M11 3BS.
Parents/guardians do not need to book in advance.
