Kevin De Bruyne welcomed a very special guest to meet him after training this week.

Michael, 11, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour aged just seven, asked to meet his hero Kevin as his ‘wish’ through the Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity.

The brave youngster made the trip to City Football Academy with his brother Andrew, 13, and Mum, Jacqui, before gaining VVIP access to the first team area.

Kevin then joined the family to spend some time signing gifts, taking photos and answering questions about his favourite footballing moments.

Michael, who is currently undergoing a 70-week-course of chemotherapy said: “Today has been absolutely brilliant, Kevin is such a great footballer and I was really excited to meet him.

“I was really happy that my brother could come as well, as he is also a huge Manchester City fan – thank you to everyone for a fantastic day!”

Jane Sharpe, CEO of Rays of Sunshine, said: “Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity makes wishes come true for children living with serious or life limiting illnesses across the UK. This year we aim to grant 1,200 wishes for brave and deserving children.

“So many young boys dream of meeting their favourite footballer and we are so grateful to Manchester City FC for making it possible for Michael to fulfil his greatest wish to meet Kevin De Bruyne.

“This incredible day gave Michael and his family the chance to put thoughts of his illness on hold and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they will never forget.”

Manchester City Football Club is proud to work closely with wish granting charities, supporting fans of all ages.
