A special pin badge, which symbolises City’s continued support for the Royal British Legion, is now on sale from the Etihad Stadium CityStore and has already been worn by Pep Guardiola.
£3 is the suggested donation for these limited edition pins, with all money going directly to the charity, who provide care to all members of the British Armed Forces, past and present and their families.
Commenting on the on-going relationship, Head of City in the Community, Mike Green, said: “The Club is once again proud to support the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal.
“The Legion’s work is entirely dependent on the generosity of its supporters, and we hope that the Manchester City fans will join us in wearing their poppies with pride.”
Volunteers will be leading a bucket collection at the Middlesbrough game, when the whole Club will honour British servicemen and women.
Before kick off, City legends Mike Summerbee, Tony Book, Colin Bell and Alex Williams will lay a wreath in the memorial garden, while in the Stadium the Last Post will be played and a poem read by the Club Chaplain, before a minutes silence is held.
As a mark of respect, Saturday’s playing shirts will also be embroidered with the poppy motif.
In the coming weeks fans will have the opportunity to bid for the unique commemorative pin badges, through City in the Community’s Charity Stars auction site, with all profits going directly to the Royal British Legion.
