Junior Blue, Idris, who had his leg amputated after being diagnosed with a form of bone cancer, recently discovered he’ll be meeting his Manchester City heroes after Vincent Kompany sent him a very special message.
Having suffered with Ewing Sarcoma, Idris now plays for City’s amputee team and found out his wish had been granted during a school assembly, when the Club captain appeared via video to invite him to watch Pep Guardiola’s team in training.
It was City in the Community’s Paul Kelly who referred Idris to Make-A-Wish and the Foundation’s Disability Coordinator was delighted to see the youngster’s dreams come true.
“Idris is fantastic, his smile and personality shine like a bright light which passes on to others, even after all of the challenges that he has faced,” he said.
“I first met Idris sitting in the playground of his primary school. I got in contact with his family and invited him to the CFA to attend City in the Community’s ‘One City’ programme.
“He is now part of the Man City junior amputee team and a member of the wider Club programme.
“At a session, Idris told me that his dream would be to meet his idols, so I wanted to try and make that happen. I am so happy that his dream will become a reality!”
