Cityzens Giving campaign across the world and in doing so becomes the first City player to visit one of the Club’s international community projects.
The FA WSL winner is visiting Kolkata’s Healthy Goals project, to help the inspiring young leaders running the programme use the power of football to educate young people on the importance of health and hygiene.
A perfect opportunity to build on Manchester City’s annual Young Leaders Summit, Jill has teamed up with Healthy Goals partner, Magic Bus India, to further support the leadership development of the youngsters responsible for the delivery of the projects.
In India’s second largest city more than 60% of the population lack adequate sanitation, but Healthy Goals is addressing this by empowering Kolkata’s youth with the knowledge to ensure they stay safe and healthy.
Delivering this message in a positive and engaging manner is key and on day one of her visit the England international shared the benefit of her experience to deliver a leadership talk.
Whilst there Jill will also help the project leaders harness the beautiful game to teach the importance of health, sanitation, and how to access clean water and will also go out into the community to witness the damaging effect of the environmental problems.
Jill’s visit follows three years of support from City fans, a time during which almost 7,000 children aged 10-15 have been positively impacted by Cityzens Giving and 150 young leaders have received training from the Club’s community network, who’ve delivered 1,700 hours of community football activities.
The Healthy Goals projects is supported by Etihad Airways, who are a local partner of Cityzens Giving Kolkata.
