Premier League Primary Stars links closely with the national curriculum and hopes to connect with 10,000 primary schools by 2019, providing free, downloadable resources in English, Maths, PE and PSHE for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 teachers.
“We are very excited to launch Premier League Primary Stars, our new national education programme that will use the power and popularity of football to inspire children to work hard and enjoy English, Maths and a range of other subjects,” said Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Scudamore.
“Our clubs already do great work in primary schools, and Premier League Primary Stars will support and enhance that work with educational resources for teachers, books from celebrated children’s authors, and much more.”
City in the Community will be supporting the campaign and by September 2017 will have delivered it to over 100 schools in Manchester.
In addition to this, qualified coaches will support teaching staff by providing them with the skills and confidence they need to be able to deliver high quality PE education.
Mike Green, Head of City in the Community, is pleased to be able to expand on the Foundation’s current work in local primary schools.
“We are delighted to be able to build on the work that City in the Community do within our existing schools programme through working with the Premier League on this new campaign,” he said.
Newall Green Primary School is one of City in the Community’s partner schools and Head Teacher, Faik Kordemir is delighted with the impact this has had.
“City in the Community have raised the standard of school sport and PE delivery,” added Kordemir.
“It’s refreshing to have high quality professional coaches deliver in our schools all year around.
“To have coaches who provide both curricular PE, extra-curricular sport and Staff CPD across both Key stages is phenomenal.
“We are really pleased with the work they are doing in our schools and are proud to be a CITC partner school.”
