City in the Community (CITC) put Raheem Sterling’s skills to the test when he visited the foundation’s OneCity programme to see first-hand the great work they are doing in line with the Premier League and BT disability project.

The Manchester City winger joined Rack House Primary School at the City Football Academy, to take part in a disability awareness session delivered by participant turned CITC coach, Hollie Heil.

Thirty youngsters took part in the session, which aims to both increase awareness and promote disability sport through a series of classroom and practical activities.

Trying out various activities including, Goal Ball, Visually Impaired Football and Amputee Football, the children tested their skills under the watchful eye of Hollie and Disability Officer, Paul Kelly.

Hollie, who has cerebral palsy, joined the foundation’s OneCity programme as a participant five years ago.

At the time she was struggling to play mainstream football, which was impacting her confidence, but during her time with the programme both her skills and morale improved.

She’s since gone on to captain the OneCity disability girls team and even represented CITC in Switzerland.

In 2015, Hollie enrolled on to the foundation’s two year BTEC course and also began playing mainstream girls football with the other students on a weekly basis.

After gaining her BTEC, Hollie went on to become a CITC apprentice.
