Youngsters from across England and Wales who regularly participate in disability sessions supported by the Premier League and BT, had the unique opportunity to play football and learn new skills at the home of the Premier League Champions.
The event, which aims to create opportunities and inspire disabled people through the power of sport, saw two of City in the Community’s PAN Disability Teams take part donning the club’s brand new 2018/19 home kit.
City in the Community’s award-winning OneCity Disability programme provides hundreds of disabled youngsters from across Manchester with the chance to play football and train at City Football Academy every week.
The football festival, which was hosted by BT’s Jake Humphrey and Abi Griffiths, was split into two parts and saw participants take part in a skills challenge in the morning, before going on to compete in a PAN-disability football tournament in the afternoon.
Former Manchester City player, Joleon Lescott, also went along to the event to meet the youngsters and take part in the football tournament.
BT Ambassador Jake Humphrey commented on the day: “I’m really excited to be involved with the Premier League and BT Disability programme and have loved seeing the progress that’s been made since we launched it two years ago.”
