With former defender Joleon Lescott at the start line, Manchester City fans were in good company as they set off for the 2018 instalment of City in the Community’s Blue Run.

The two-time Premier League winner joined more than 1000 fans at the Etihad Campus on Sunday 25 March, as our second 5km all blue colour run raised more than £30,000 for the foundation.

“Today’s a great occasion for the community to come together and raise money for the foundation,” said Lescott on race day.

“It doesn’t matter what your running ability is, it’s a great opportunity to take part and just have a good time.

“It also gives fans the chance to see the Etihad Campus and player facilities where the teams train every day.”

For more than three decades, City in the Community (CITC) has been using the power of football to create opportunities, build futures, and touch lives in a unique way.

The foundation engages with thousands of people from across the city throughout the season, which is possible only because of the true dedication of Manchester City fans.

Head of City in the Community, Mike Green, was delighted with the support the foundation received.

“It’s been fantastic to see so many fans around the Etihad Campus today supporting City in the Community,” he added.

“Their dedication and support will ensure that the foundation can continue to enhance the lives of thousands of people across Greater Manchester.

“We are so thankful to everyone who took part.”

This season, CITC launched its first ever fundraising pack, designed to help fans on their own fundraising journeys.
