Last month, coaches from Manchester City’s foundation, City in the Community, delivered training to 42 Young Leaders to help further their impact in their local communities.
The project, delivered in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages and supported by SHB Bank, is part of the Club’s Cityzens Giving initiative which uses the power of football to enable young people around the world to tackle tough social challenges affecting their local communities.
Since training began, City in the Community coaches have trained a total of 122 Young Leaders from six SOS Villages in Vietnam, who have taken what they have learned to deliver community football sessions to other children in their communities.

“We are so proud to be working with SHB and SOS Children’s Villages to deliver Cityzens Giving Young Leader training in Vietnam and empower young people to use the power of football for social good.
“We want to continue to equip these young leaders with the confidence, leadership, and coaching skills they need to be able to have a genuine and long-lasting impact in their local communities.”
Through the annual training, participants have developed an understanding of community football, practical planning and project management skills through classroom and on-the-pitch workshops.
This year, Young Leaders continued to build on their knowledge, of how football can be used as a tool to build leadership skills positively impact their local community.
Following three days of training, Young Leaders were able to put their learning into practice. Together, the 42 young leaders planned and delivered a football festival for 50 local children who live at the SOS Village in Hanoi.
