Getting Manchester Moving is offering yet another way for Manchester residents to become fit and healthy by holding women’s and girl’s football sessions.

All sessions are aimed at beginners, will be fun and include everyone – mums and daughters, sisters and their friends are welcome.

Getting Manchester Moving ‘kick started’ the year with a huge launch at the City of Manchester Stadium; dads and lads; tai chi for women; weight management camp.

The website www.gettingmanchestermoving.org  was launched in January 2007 and has had over 340,000 hits. It is designed to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity, its benefits and where these activities can be accessed as well as about healthy eating and weight management.

Alex Williams MBE, City in the Community’s Executive Manager said: “This is great opportunity to become more physically active, receive health advice and have the chance to play sport alongside one another.

“Manchester City is delighted to be supporting the Getting Manchester Moving project.”

Getting Manchester Moving has pulled together under one banner information about a range of health provisions from across the city – making it simple and easy for people to access. The key supporters also include Manchester City Council and Manchester Public Health Development Service.

The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports charity funded by the Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government. Their mission is to improve facilities, create opportunities and build communities throughout England.

The football sessions will be held on a weekly basis (school term time only) and start Tuesday 8th April, 5.00pm – 6.00pm. For more information about Getting Manchester Moving or to book your place on the course please contact City in the Community on 0161 438 7711.
