On a very cold December morning eleven of Manchester City’s novice Judo players boarded the mini bus bound for Sutton leisure centre in St Helens.
The tournament, organised by British Judo, pitted the Manchester City team against competitors from four other premier league clubs; Liverpool, Everton, Wigan and Stoke City.
The representatives from Manchester City, all year 5 children from St Clemence primary school, were led by Raven Judo Kwai coach Bob Cheetham for their first foray into competitive judo.
All the children were awarded with medals for their hard work and effort. Lee Mannion, Manchester City’s Premier League 4 Sport coordinator said “The whole day was a great success from our point of view; the kids had a great day, competed well and can’t wait to take on other clubs in the future.”
