With no football to watch, the event saw more than 500 people taking part, making it the best attended GMM activity to date.
Those who wanted to make the most of the sunshine took part in the outdoor activities including the ‘Kick Up Challenge’, athletics, an assault course, netball and a bouncy castle. Over 100 MCFC Footballs were given away to the talented footballers who managed to ‘Beat the Goalie’.
Indoors, the Commonwealth Suite hosted the Premier League 4 Sport Judo exhibition. Professional Judo coaches gave participants the opportunity to throw, pin and trip each other. Even Moonbeam and Moonchester had a go! For a gentler experience, the pom poms were out for the cheerleading group.
“The event was a huge success and we had our biggest ever turnout,” said Steven Turner, Getting Manchester Moving Co-ordinator.
“We work to make physical activity more enjoyable and accessible for the people of Manchester. A day like this is a fantastic way to get the whole family involved, to show what we do, and to make it clear that healthy living is easily achievable.”
Even more sporting activities were available on the concourse, as well as arts and crafts activities, and hundreds of prizes were given away including DVD’s, clothing, baseball caps and footballs.
