City today hosted a ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ event in the City of Manchester stadium.

Around 100 school children were in attendance and took part in educational workshops and then a  Q & A session with former players  Leroy Rosenior (pictured above), Earl Barratt, Jason Beckford and Alex Williams.

The day was based around using football and the World Cup to combat racism.

City’s England squad members Shaun Wright-Phillips, Joe Hart and Adam Johnson have also been doing their bit to make sure the campaign gets more coverage.

Ahead of the friendly against Mexico the lads joined the rest of the squad and took time out from training in order to show their support

The anti-racist charity was established in January 1996 and uses top footballers to help educate and combat racism through a series of organised campaigns and events.

On their website can be found lots of ideas on how to fight racism, and information about the work the group undertakes, which ranges from holding events with football clubs all over the country, to running competitions for schools to enter, to producing DVDs where players and young people speak about their experiences of and views on racism.
