What a year it has been for the Blues chosen charities.

It has been another twelve months of success and progress for City in the Community Giving as we continued to build on a well-earned reputation as a club at the heart of its community both near and far.

The opening of the new play area at the Royal Children’s hospital, the construction of a 1,000 Blue Santas strolling around the City of Manchester Stadium have been just a few of the highlights of a year that has sped by.

Back in September the club announced that Guide Dogs for the Blind would join the club’s own community scheme, City in the Community, as our nominated Charities of the Year for the 2010/11 season.

Charities were invited to apply via the club’s website earlier this summer before fans, staff, supporters, and volunteers of the individual charities were invited to vote for the charity of their choice from a shortlist compiled by the club’s Charities Committee.

The club spent the year fundraising through a variety of events and the players and the manager were not slow to join in.

Here, as CITC gear up for another year of fun and fundraising, we showcase five of the best moments covering just a fraction of the fantastic work carried out by staff and volunteers.
