In the beautiful North West sunshine, City in the Community took a 30 strong squad to compete in the event in Leigh.
As the current holders, the girls representing Manchester City Football Club were once again expected to be strong favourites.
With over 120 teams competing, it was going to be a fantastic and also challenging day for all the girls involved.
MCFC had 5 teams competing in the Under 13’s competition and 2 in the under 15’s section.
The day got off to a great start, as all the MCFC teams thrived on competing against a host of other Premier League clubs, as well as local school teams.
The under 15’s A team captain Hannah Bancroft said,
When we arrived I couldn’t believe how many people were there, I didn’t realise so many teams would compete, I couldn’t wait to show of our skills.

After a superb morning’s volleyball, all seven MCFC teams had reached the latter stages of the competition - a fantastic achievement and a great example of the great coaching they receive.
In the afternoon knockout competition, the girls continued to beat one team after the next, until they reached the finals.
In the under 15s cup final, the MCFC A team narrowly defeated the MCFC B team, whilst in the under 13s final a similar story unfolded, as the A team defeated the B team.
As well as being winners and runners up in the cup section, our Under 13s C and D teams also competed in the final of the plate competition, with the C team coming out on top.
Overall, the teams did remarkably well and took home winners medals and runners up medals in every section they were entered in.
It seems just as the first team are making a habit of winning trophies, the PL4S squads have picked up that same habit.
Manchester City’s Premier League 4 Sport coordinator Lee Mannion said,
“What an amazing day it’s been, I knew our girls were very good, but they’ve exceeded expectations today. The event was a massive success and a great way to promote the project and the work we are doing in the local community.”
The girls that competed for MCFC at the event all regularly attend the PL4S sessions at Fairfield High School for Girls and the results show what fantastic coaching they receive.
