City on the Community’s Down Syndrome Team received an extra special surprise when Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad made a guest appearance at their weekly training session.

The manager was joined by a host of players including captain, Vincent Kompany, who stopped by to meet the youngsters at the City Football Academy.

This training session forms part of the foundation’s award winning OneCity disability programme, which caters for a total of nine different impairment groups, providing free sporting and social opportunities to disabled people across Greater Manchester.

This particular initiative is one supported by Head of Sports Medicine, Dr Max Sala, who will be taking on the Race Across America (RAAM) in June 2018, to raise funds and awareness.

The race has to be completed within 12 days starting in Oceanside, California and ending at City Dock Annapolis, Maryland- spanning 3000 miles, climbing a staggering 175,000 feet and crossing 12 states.

City in the Community works with over one thousand disabled people each season, and these much-needed funds will continue to grow the OneCity programme and enable City in the Community to reach more people than ever before.
