Alfie Harrison believes his hat-trick against Blackburn Rovers can be the start of things to come over the course of the season.

The City midfielder helped secure an impressive 5-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in Under-18 Premier League North, as our youngsters made it back-to-back home victories in league action. 

His first goal came via a header from Tom Galvez’s cross, which saw his effort give Rovers goalkeeper William Blease no chance. 

In the second half, Seb Naylor joined the attack down the left before he played a low cross to Harrison, who cut inside shifting the ball onto his left-footed before slotting into the bottom corner.

He capped off a perfect hat-trick moments later, when Matty Whittingham squared the ball to the midfielder who converted a right-footed volley.

And the City number eight says the team can be proud of the performance they put in against the Lancashire outfit.

“It was a good game and I scored three goals as well, so it was good day all round,” Harrison expressed.

“I think it was a good team performance as we created a lot of chances, and we worked well as a team.

“We’ve been good [so far this season], our aim is to go on and win the league again this season, that’s what we are working towards.”

Despite the many injuries that Ben Wilkinson has had to deal with, his side have made a good start to the season, sitting in third in the table after six games played.

And the midfielder took time to pay tribute to his teammates with the way they have gelled so effectively. 

“I think we’ve gelled quickly.

“We all work well together as a team, we work for each other day in day out in training and we take that with us into the games.

“I want to score more goals and make more assists when I get my chance and effect games.”
