Despite confident play from our EDS, an experienced Spurs side were more efficient in front of goal, with Yago Alonso and Jude Soonsup Bell putting the visitors two up at the break, as they capitalised on our mistakes.
Damola Ajayi scored early in the second half for Spurs, with an Alonso brace and Rio Kyerematen adding further goals to the scoreline.
“I think it was a difficult game,” our EDS boss reflected.
“We played against a team who are much older than us, our boys are very, very young so to see them compete in the manner they did was fine by me.
“I thought our performance in the first half was ok, I thought we played reasonably well but we conceded goals at moments were it becomes very difficult for the players emotionally to deal with”
It was a much changed team for our EDS, with players from last seasons U18 squad making the step up.
However, Barry-Murphy saw the result as good experience for the upcoming season.
“I’m very excited to work these group of lads, there’s a lot of talent in the dressing room,” the Irishman expressed.
“I thought our players adapted and were very good in the first half, we dealt with the setbacks of the goals against us and the way we behaved and the situations that came our way was very good.
“We are looking for signs of resilience and understanding of the players that they have to keep going right to the very end, and I saw signs of that from many individuals, and it was a very beneficial experience for me.”
