The Academy outfit face Chelsea in Monday evening’s showpiece game at St George’s Park and the Spaniard believes it is vital his players approach the tie with a positive mindset.

“The most important thing is that they enter the final with the right mentality,” he explained.
“The right mentality for us is to go into the game with no fear or doubts, but determined to win it.
“It’s not about having extra confidence, either, but being completely determined to win it whatever the circumstances are.
“They have the right, because of what they have done in the past, to feel that they are a big club in this competition because of how many times they have won it in recent years.
“We are here to change that dynamic. Obviously, you respect your opponents and know they are really good, but we are as well.
“We want to win the competition and build a legacy for the academy.
“The mentality plays a big role in situations like this and I think we have the right one.”
Vicens has been impressed with his players’ attitudes since the competition resumed and he feels the group will benefit from their recent experience in big game, having finished runners-up in the 2018/19 Youth Cup and won the U18 Premier League Cup for the past two seasons.
But for all the objective is to win, he always wants the youngsters to enjoy the occasion.
“It is a unique opportunity,” added Vicens, who played in the Under-18 Copa Del Rey final with Real Mallorca during his own playing career.
“Some of them will be lucky to play in it for the second time but there are players who have never played in a final like this.
“Some will do it just once in their life or their careers. It is special, and you need to enjoy it.
“I am a big believer in processes and I think you cannot just enjoy achieving the objective, you need to enjoy the process.
“The days before the semi-final and the days before the final are days to enjoy because you are preparing for a big game.
“They can’t forget to enjoy it, because sometimes it only comes once in a career.”
