Our 5-3 victory over Deby County – coupled with second-placed Manchester United’s 2-0 loss away at Newcastle – means we now have an unassailable lead with two matches remaining.
Our latest success is the Club’s fifth title in six seasons, with manager Oliver Reiss winning back-to-back titles in his two years in charge of the Under-18s.
Reiss’ side picked up six successive wins at the start of the campaign, including a 7-3 triumph over Blackburn Rovers and thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Manchester United.
The race for the title against our cross-city rivals intensified after City dropped points in difficult matches against Derby County and Leeds United in the New Year.
But Reiss’ Under-18s showed maturity and togetherness and sealed another title triumph with two games left of the 25/26 campaign.
Throughout our 24 games, Reiss’ Blues have won 19, drawn two and lost three and scored a staggering 89 goals to average more than 3.5 per a game.
City have also kept a clean sheet on nine occasions and conceded just 30 goals.
Following the latest achievement of City’s Under-18s, Academy Director Thomas Kruecken said:
“Winning the Under-18 Premier League North title for a second successive season is a fantastic achievement and a really proud moment for everyone connected to the Academy.
“Winning back-to-back titles is really difficult. It takes immense dedication and hard work from every single player, Oliver and member of staff – and that’s exactly what we’ve seen.
“The quality of football, the amazing results we’ve had and our ability to bounce back during difficult times in the season have combined to make this a special season once again.
“I am so pleased to see the hard work on and off the pitch rewarded. Everyone at Manchester City should be really proud of this group of players.”
As a result of topping the Premier League North table, City will face winners from the South Division - Chelsea - in the National final, with details of the match to be confirmed on mancity.com and the Official Man City App in due course.
Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Oliver, the squad and the Academy staff on our latest achievement and another memorable season.
