Having been involved with Pep Guardiola’s first team squad, Palmer only played one Premier League 2 game last month, but delivered a fine performance to score two goals and provide one assist in a 4-0 win over Leicester City.

The 18-year-old is one of six nominees, who were chosen by the Premier League’s Football Development Panel after each PL2 coach picked out the best performance by an opposing player in their league matches during the month.

Palmer is up against Bryan Fiabema (Chelsea), Isaac Fletcher (Middlesbrough), Joe Hugill (Manchester United), Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka (Sunderland) and Rhys Williams (Liverpool).

The winner will be selected by the Football Development Panel.

Everyone at Manchester City congratulates Cole on his nomination.
