Enzo Maresca’s men had gone 2-0 up before the break courtesy of spectacular strikes from Liam Delap and Tommy Doyle, but the visitors rallied in the second half to earn a share of the spoils.
And while Lavia believes he and his teammates gave their all, he feels there are aspects of the match that they can improve on and take forward.
The 16-year-old Belgian said: “We have to be disappointed because we were 2-0 up… but we have to learn from it, and I’m looking forward to the next game (against Liverpool).
“It was a great game, good players on both teams and a great intensity. You have to think quicker otherwise you can get lost.”

Chelsea enjoyed the majority of the play in the second 45, and it would have been easy for City to buckle under the pressure when Myles Peart-Harris hauled them level with 20 minutes to go, but the Young Blues stuck at their jobs and held firm.
That second-half fightback by the visitors was spearheaded by highly-rated midfielder Billy Gilmour, who grabbed Chelsea’s opener early in the second half.
But while the Scotsman has gained many plaudits for his occasional appearances in Frank Lampard’s first team, Lavia wasn’t phased by coming up against him in the midfield.
“I saw him before the game but during the game it doesn’t matter who you are,” he reflected.
“It was the same for me, a player at my age so I treated him like all the others.
“I think every game you have to suffer, so you just have to stay compact and defend as much as you can. I think we did well but unfortunately we conceded too - next time.”

On a personal level, it’s been quite a week for our young Belgian midfielder, making both his Under-21’s debut in the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday night before his first EDS bow at the Academy Stadium on Sunday.
Lavia was visibly proud of the progress he has been making so far, and is hoping both the team and he personally can keep making strides for the rest of the season.
“It’s been an amazing week for me. I’m really happy to be here and I am enjoying every minute.
“I came here to Man City because of the project, the goal.
“My objective was to go to the next step as soon as possible. It was always in my head.”
