The Young Lions earned an impressive three-point haul in their opening Group C match in Indonesia.
City had three starters with Oboavwoduo, Lakyle Samuel, and Joel Ndala all in Ryan Garry’s first XI while Matty Warhurst entered the action just past the hour mark in the impressive victory.
The opener came on 16 minutes with Chelsea’s Reiss Russell-Denny firing home a penalty after Southampton’s Samuel Amo-Ameyaw had been fouled in the box.
City forward Oboavwoduo finished the second of the game expertly on 30 minutes after a sumptuous cross into the box by Southampton’s Tyler Dibling.
Dibling got a goal of his own on 35 minutes when he fired home with his left foot after cutting in from the right flank.
It was 4-0 at the break, with Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong heading home another impressive centre from Saints forward Dibling in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Boss Garry will have been delighted with that opening period but it got even better after the break as England moved up another gear.
The challenge for New Caledonia wasn’t helped by the dismissal of captain Nolhann Alebate who was sent off for an incident with Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly as the duo battled for the ball.
The fifth arrived on 51 minutes with Saints striker Amo-Ameyaw making no mistake with an expert finish from the edge of the box.
City forward Oboavwoduo grabbed his second of the game on 57 minutes, running onto Acheampong’s pass to finish expertly in the area.
Warhurst was one of five England subs on 61 minutes and another of them, Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri curled home the seventh of the game from the edge of the area on 78 minutes.
No.8 for England wasn’t long in coming via an own-goal on 80 minutes with another substitute, Chelsea’s Michael Golding’s strike diverting off Wadriya Hanye and past goalkeeper Nicolas Kutran.
Yet another sub, Chelsea’s Harrison Murray-Campbell headed the ninth on 85 minutes while Manchester United’s Finley McAllister, another of Garry’s subs, blasted home in the first minute of injury time to bring up ten.
Next up for England is Iran on Tuesday, 14 November (kick-off 12pm GMT) before concluding the group campaign against Brazil on Friday, 17 November 17 (kick-off 12pm GMT).
