It was the visitors who opened the scoring early on, however City quickly turned the game on it’s head thanks to goals from Alex Robertson and Cole Palmer, to give Maresca’s side the lead at the break.

Liverpool then hit back after the restart, equalising just one minute into the second half. However, after a hard-fought second half showing City snatched all three points thanks to a Felix Nmecha goal two minutes from time.
After the game, Maresca believed his team’s late winner was more than deserved after a controlling performance.
“It’s a good feeling because we won the game.
“I think we deserved to win the game, we had many chances and had control for the 90 minutes.”
Maresca added. “The first five, ten minutes of the second half we conceded the goal and lost a bit of confidence, but I think in the end we deserved it and played a good game.”
The City youngsters have set the Premier League 2 alight this campaign, and the victory over Liverpool now extends our lead at the top of the table to eight points, with four games left to play.
A key component to City’s success this season has been our free-flowing attack, after scoring 65 goals in 20 games.
Two men who have been imperative to that free-scoring form are winger, Cole Palmer, and striker, Liam Delap.
As a result, the pair pair played reversed roles in the 3-2 win and the EDS boss was pleased with his attacking experiment.
“We tried to change a little bit of something with the shape.
“Cole played really well, and Liam was very good. All of them played well at the end the idea worked quite well.”
After gaining the lead just before the break City were dealt a blow a minute into the second half, after the Reds drew level.
Despite the setback, Maresca was pleased with his side’s reaction and focus to go on and win the game late on.
“It is never easy when you concede a goal, so we lost a bit of control for five minutes.
“But, the first half and the last half hour of the second half we were in control. We reacted really well. I’m so happy for the guys.”
