As the two young outfits took centre stage at the Joie, the game began with both teams testing the waters but City certainly looked the brighter side.

It wasn’t until the 40th minute either side would break the deadlock and it came in the form of a fantastic Floyd Samba free-kick.

After his brother, Tyrone, was fouled 25-yards out, Floyd Samba fired the set piece into the left corner.

However, United had an immediate response through a Godwill Kukonki header two minutes later.

It meant the trophy was all to play for in the second half.

Similar to the first half, both teams couldn’t quite carve out clear-cut chances.

It felt like a moment of magic would decide the fate and waiting to provide it for City was Reigan Heskey.

The winger saw the ball fall kindly to his feet and the experienced forward cut onto his right and fired home to give City the lead on the brink of full-time.

Oliver Reiss’ side held strong in the final moments before the full-time whistle rang around the Joie Stadium, with City fans delighted.
