Taylor spent the past two seasons in charge of the Under-18s with Vicens as his number two and the pair had guided City through to the semi-finals of the 2019/20 event when the tournament was put on hiatus due to the CIVID-19 pandemic in March.
In the spring lockdown, Taylor was subsequently appointed manager of our women’s side with Vicens succeeding him.
And, 24 hours after tasting silverware of his own in leading City to FA Women’s Cup glory at Wembley over Everton, Taylor admitted he was thrilled to see our youngsters win the FA Youth Cup for only the third time in our history as we overcame Chelsea 3-2.

And he said it was extra special for Cole Palmer to score the winner given the fact the youngster missed from the spot in a penalty shoot out in last season’s heartbreaking final defeat against Liverpool.
“I am so very pleased for the players and for all of the staff, especially Carlos who really deserves this moment,” Taylor declared.
“It was great for Cole to score the winning goal after suffering the penalty miss in the previous final...what a story and a top achievement for the Academy!”
