It was the team’s first derby day in the new season and under Coggin, who stepped into the role in the summer.
A 66th minute strike from Teddie Lamb, who scored in the second consecutive weekend, was the only thing to separate the two side in what was a tight affair at Carrington.
Coupled with our 2-1 victory over Liverpool at the City Football Academy last time out, it saw us sit second in the table as the young blues continue our title defence.
And Coggin expressed his pride in his side’s character as well as some aspects we can improve on as we grow into the game.
“So impressed firstly with the togetherness, the warmth within the group,” Coggin began.
“We speak a lot about deserving to win and everyone stepping off the pitch can feel that.

“I’d like to be more dominant, more controlled, but that will come.
“The foundation of the group, the culture seems to be really strong and we can all be really proud of that.”
Manchester derbies always have a chaotic but thrilling aspect to them, with last season seeing a 4-2 comeback win for the Blues.
Coggin then went on to explain what we changed, in what was a tight affair between the home and away side, that allowed Lamb to change the trajectory of the game.
“I think a moment of calmness it’s a big game, it’s a derby and especially the first half, we felt that,” Coggin added.

“Not being able to get into our process, being braver to take the ball. We saw more of that in the second-half.
“We made some changes to try and overload the midfield area and that moment really paid off.
“But really important that we use these games in the right way.
“It’s to test young players in difficult situations and exactly what today was.”
