The striker opened the scoring just past the half hour to put Carlos Vicens’ side in the driving seat on Merseyside.
And Sodje followed that up by scoring twice more after the break to ensure the City youngsters secured our second league win of the season to maintain our fine start to the new campaign.
What happened
On a bright morning on Kirkby, the hosts enjoyed most of the early possession with City keeper Mikki Van Sas needing to be alert to produce a fine save from a Corness snap shot.
Gradually however City grew into the game with our patience and crisp passing opening up space and time.
On the half hour Carlos Borges latched onto a fine Micah Hamilton cross ball cut in and found Darko Gyabi but his close-range shot was saved at close range.
However, four minutes later we took the lead.
Having switched to the right flank Borges fired in an inviting cross and Tai Sodje showed composure to beat his marker before then sliding the ball home under the keeper from close range.
City almost struck again on 38 minutes as another fine attacking move saw Hamilton power down the left flank before feeding inside to Harvey Griffiths.
The midfielder drilled in a fine shot from the edge of the box and only a brilliant save prevented us doubling our lead.

City stepped up the pressure after the break and on 54 minutes we doubled our advantage through that man Sodje.
The forward seized on an error by Liverpool centre half Koumetio as he looked to find his keeper, Sodje stealing in on the blind side before smartly tucking the ball home.
And on 68 minutes another devastating City counter-attack saw Sodje claim a brilliant individual treble.
Substitute Josh Adam and Borges were the architects, driving at the Liverpool defence before Borges fed Sodje with the goal gaping and the striker finished in style.
Liverpool narrowed the deficit through a goal from substitute Mabaya after a mix-up in the City defence but that failed to deflect from a fine afternoon’s work on Merseyside.
How we lined up
Mikki Van Sas was in goal, shielded by a back four of Kwaku Oduroh, Shea Charles, Callum Doyle, and Juan Larios. Romeo Lavia was the holding midfielder with Harvey Griffiths and Darko Gyabi also in the engine room. Carlos Borges, Tai Sodje and Micah Hamilton formed our attacking trident.
What it means
Our second league win of the season means we now have seven points from our opening three games and are currently joint top with Everton.

Carlos Vicens’ side are back in Under 18 Premier League action next Saturday when we play host to Manchester Derby in the first derby of the season. Kick-off at the CFA is at 2pm.
