City Under 18s skipper Cole Palmer said he and his teammates are hungry for even more success in the wake of our successful defence of the Under 18 Premier League Cup.

Palmer bagged a brace of goals as City overpowered a dogged Stoke City side, to record a comprehensive 6-0 win in Tuesday’s showpiece final at the Academy Stadium.

Gareth Taylor’s squad are also top of the table in the Under 18 Premier League North standings while Taylor has also over seen City’s march through to the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

And, as he reflected on a memorable night, Palmer immediately set his sights on securing yet more silverware this season.

“The boss said it was the start of hopefully the treble and hopefully we can kick on now between now and the end of the season and carry on working hard,” said the Under 18s skipper.

“It was a good night all round for the team, for the fans and for the staff.

“We’ve worked hard as a group to get here and it was good to get the win and trophy at the end of it.

“The first half was a bit quiet, but we turned it on in the second half and got the goals.

“I’m claiming three goals as our first deflected off me! But, seriously, it’s not about me – it’s about the team and claiming the cup.

“On a personal level, I’m really enjoying my football here at City.

“I want to keep working hard and, hopefully, it gets me somewhere.”
