Last weekend, City led 3-1 against Derby but conceded twice in the last four minutes to draw 3-3.
Against Blackburn Rovers on Friday evening, City again led and looked comfortable before conceding on 71 minutes and then again from a set piece deep into stoppage time after keeper James Trafford had been shown a straight red card.
It’s an issue the Italian boss intends to work on in training with the late goals conceded the only blemish on two otherwise promising Premier League 2 displays.
“I think that in the first half, we did well and made some chances, but I saw the same problem I saw last week against Derby County,” said Maresca.
“Maybe in the second-half, physically, they were a little bit stronger than us and I think we have to understand that when we have the chances in the box, we have to be clinical – otherwise we can end up losing the game, which we did on this occasion.
“It also happened against Derby in that in the last 20 minutes, we lost something in terms of physicality – I said to the lads that games don’t last 70 minutes – they last for 90 to 95 minutes – but I’m sure they will learn quickly and we will find ways to close out games we are winning.
“The fact is, we have played well for 70 minutes in both our opening games and were leading each time - but we ended up losing two points against Derby and three against Blackburn.
“We should have taken home at least one point from this game, so we have work to do in that respect.”
