The fixtures for the new 2021/22 Premier League 2 campaign – which begins in mid-August – were officially unveiled today.
City, under the stewardship of new manager Brian Barry-Murphy, will be setting out in defence of the PL2 title we won in such impressive fashion last term.
And the former Rochdale boss – whose appointment as successor to Enzo Maresca was confirmed at the weekend - will begin his reign with an intriguing assignment on Merseyside against Liverpool on Sunday, August 15, kick-off 2pm.
The EDS Squad will then play host to Blackburn Rovers in our first home encounter at the Academy Stadium on Friday, August 20th, kick-off 7pm.

An exciting start to the season continues as we then face the first Manchester derby of the season, away to United on Friday, August 27th, kick-off 7pm.
That’s then followed by another high-profile assignment at home to Chelsea on Saturday, September 11th, kick-off 3pm as the City youngsters seek to make a positive start to the new campaign and further their development and experience.
Amongst the other highlights from the schedule are a home derby date against Manchester United on Friday, January 14th, kick-off 7pm, while we end the season with a home clash against Everton on Friday, April 29th, kick-off 7pm.
The league has been expanded this season from 13 to 14 teams with Leeds United and Crystal Palace being promoted from PL2 Division Two, with every side now playing 26 games over the course of the campaign.
