The Under-18s’ new head coach saw his charges gradually take command of the game in the first-half before easing to victory.
But Vicens believes his players will get better as the campaign progresses having had only six weeks to prepare for the start of the new season.

“It was a good start and a good level of obligation from the lads,” said Vicens.
“It wasn’t as easy as the result suggests – the first 20 or 30 minutes were closely contested and Wolves gave us a good go, but it was a good goal from Darko and that put us on our way.
“We learned from the opening 15 minutes, tweaked one or two things, took control and scoring three goals before half-time obviously changes the whole picture.
“It was a good learning experience for us because we have some big games coming up soon and we need to try and realise what is happening on the pitch much earlier and adapt accordingly and next time I’d like to us to sort that out sooner.”
Reluctant to single any of his players out, Vicens admitted he was pleased with the performance of two-goal winger Carlos Borges, but preferred to praise the team as a whole.
On Borges’ display he said, “Yes he did well, but it is what you expect from the calibre of the players we have coming through our Academy.
“He was very good today, but I would like to highlight the general performance of all the players – we had 70 to 75 minutes of really great effort.
“It was the first 90 minutes for a lot of the lads today, so fair play to them for that, but we can definitely do better and there are things we’ll take from this game and review and work on.
“Overall, I was really pleased. Obviously, we have only had a month and a half to work with the lads and you cannot touch on everything – it will take us months to get to the level. that we want to get to.
“We are trying to implement ideas in training and the most important thing for me today is that they tried and they did particularly well with the build-up and with our pressing.
“That, plus the way we adapted to the challenge the opposition were presenting us during the first half was particularly pleasing, but we have plenty of work ahead of us.”
