It was one of City’s best performances in the League Phase of the prestigious European competition.

And it began with a fantastic free-kick by Charlie Gray on 23 minutes. The midfielder curled his right-footed set piece towards the right post after a dominant opening by City.

Real Madrid had the perfect opportunity to draw level before the break, but a huge penalty save by Spike Brits denied Liberto Navascues from the spot.

It was the extra boost of confidence City needed, and Ben Wilkinson’s side definitely used it to our advantage.

Ryan McAidoo scored a sublime goal to give us some breathing room. Substitute Justin Oboavwoduo won the ball back on the halfway line and passed the ball to McAidoo. The latter ran the ball the entirety of Real Madrid’s half before firing a low shot home.

Then, a late double brace from Reigan Heskey, the first a clinical right-footed finish before a comfortable penalty, completed an excellent outing for our Under-19s in Spain.
