Lauris Coggin’s Under-18 Premier League North side have got off to a flying start in 2026/27.
A 2-1 opening weekend win over Liverpool, in which Lamb scored City’s first of the afternoon, was followed up with derby day delight on Saturday afternoon.
Lamb poked home the decisive goal in our hard-fought victory at Carrington as the City number nine once again showcases his hunger to score and help the team.
And the England youth international said our win over United was a statement that City are determined to retain the league title.
“It wasn’t our best game, but in those moments as a team, we got to show what we’re about,” began Lamb.
“And I think that game just summed everything up we’ve been working on for the past six weeks and it’s a great start.
“It’s a huge win because you know momentum is in our favour now and we’ve shown that we are again this season [aiming] to be the best team in the league and in the country, so we’ve just got to carry on what we’re doing.”
The results in the past fortnight have certainly tested the young blues to our limits as fresh faces find their feet in the Under-18 Premier League North.
But for Lamb, the two narrow deserved wins are a testament to the team’s trust in Coggin and things can only continue to get better with time.
“I think these first two games, Liverpool [and] United are tough,” Lamb continued.
“I think we’ve got to get the three points in both games. And we’ve done that.
“Now we’ve got to build and start to dominate games like we did last season. But we’re so confident in Lauris and all the team.”
