Ben Wilkinson’s youngsters fought back hard to take the game to extra-time in a monumental comeback to beat southern champions West Ham United 2-1 after 120 dramatic minutes.
It means City are the first team in history to achieve the feat, following successes over Southampton and Fulham in the last two campaigns.
West Ham’s Gideon Kodua gave the visitors the lead just shy of the 30-minute mark despite City controlling the majority of possession.
But Wilkinson’s side showed their grit and determination as they searched for an equaliser. And it paid off for City in the 75th minute as Justin Oboavwoduo drew us level with a header that took the game to extra-time.
City continued to apply large amounts of pressure to a tired West Ham defensive line for the first half of extra-time.
And while West Ham’s energy levels went down a gear, City’s continued to rise. And Oboavwoduo struck again in the 102nd minute to top off a stunning turnaround and secure a historic third consecutive national title.
