Despite falling behind, Micah Hamilton equalised 20 minutes in, before completing his brace just after half time to put City 2-1 ahead.
Tai Sodje then netted a quick fire brace in the final quarter of the game to secure an impressive win for Carlos Vicens team on the road.
Salt was rubbed into the hosts’ wounds in the final moments after Jack Hodnett was sent off with five minutes to play after a second bookable offence.
The win extends our free-scoring form, after scoring 10 goals in our last three U18 Premier League North games.
WHAT HAPPENED
As to be expected it was the City youngsters who dominated the ball in the early stages, however it was Wolves who drew blood first, as Kamran Kandola gave the hosts the lead inside 20 minutes.
Despite this it did not take Vicens’ side long to react, as just two minutes later Hamilton netted his third goal of the season to level things up at the New Bucks Head.
City then continued the hunt for the lead as we remained on the front foot throughout the first half, but the Wolves defence stayed strong to ensure the teams went in at the break all-square.
The hosts’ resiliant backline was broken 10 minutes into the second half though, as Hamilton added his, and City’s second goal of the evening to deservedly put Vicens side into the lead.
One man who could not be left out in front of goal was Under-18s top scorer, Sodje as he netted with 20 minutes left to give the City youngsters some breathing space heading into the final moments.
In spite of the two-goal advantage, Sodje and his teammates did not rest there as the frontman completed his brace to cap off a superb away performance from Vicens’ team.
The Wolves pack was reduced by one in the final five minutes, as Hodnett recieved a second yellow card meaning the hosts were left to play the remaining minutes with ten men.
HOW WE LINED UP
Josh McNamara‘s goal was protected by a back four of Kwaku Oduroh, Jadel Katongo, Shea Charles and Juan Larios.
Harvey Griffiths, Oscar Bobb and Micah Hamilton formed our midfield three, whilst Carlos Borges and Liam Smith occupied the left and right wing.
Tai Sodje led the line up front.
WHAT IT MEANS
The victory leaves us in third in the Under-18 Premier League North table, three points behind league leaders, Manchester United.
