Enzo Maresca’s youngsters reached the last 32 after topping Northern Group E having recorded wins over Mansfield and Scunthorpe, before a narrow loss on penalties after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw away at Lincoln City.
It meant we were guaranteed a home tie in the knockout stage, but we have received special dispensation to play away from home.
The Wirral side are currently 15th in League Two and qualified for the second round of the EFL Trophy thanks to a second placed finish in Northern Group D.
Round of 32 ties are due to be played in the week commencing December 7th.
A confirmed date and kick-off time for the Prenton Park tie will be announced shortly.
