With three games left to play for City and two games left for the Black Cats, a win for Ben Wilkinson’s youngsters would see City lift the Under-18 Premier League North title for a third consecutive season.
An impressive 3-1 win against Manchester United last weekend maintained our hopes of winning the North title and we go into this game a point clear of Sunderland.
Nico O’Reilly gave us the lead after his shot from a tight angle was too difficult to stop.
The captain doubled City’s lead after an audacious chip over goalkeeper Elyh Harrison’s head floated into the back of the net.
United pulled one back through a Louis Jackson goal but a stoppage time free-kick from Seb Naylor guaranteed all three points.
City have not met Sunderland since their 1-1 draw in the league in November. An Emilio Lawrence equaliser in the first half meant the points were shared.
We have lost just one game, against Tottenham, and drew one game, against Nottingham Forest, since then.
The two teams are in similar form, with Sunderland winning their last seven league games and City going one further.
The match kicks off at 13:00 (UK) this Saturday 22 April - don’t miss what should be a fascinating clash.
