Patrick Vieira’s side aim to get their first league win of the new season at the AJ Bell Stadium on Sunday, as they host West Ham – another side who are yet to experience victory in the new campaign.

Vieira’s men slipped to an away defeat to Chelsea in the opening round of fixtures, yet recovered well from the set-back by putting on a good performance to overcome Schalke in a friendly at Ewen Fields.

However in their next league fixture, Sunderland proved a stern test and held the young City side to a 1-1 draw; a result assistant manager Simon Davies was disappointed with.

“We’re quite disappointed in terms of we thought we were a little flat,” he told mcfc.co.uk

“We started off with some passing sequences and got our goal through Jordy (Hiwula) – we looked comfortable without being at our very best. We felt that the manner of the equalising was something that we gave them and not what they achieved, although they did work hard and tested us in that way.”

Shay Facey is ineligible to play in the match, as his one-match suspension falls on the recently rearranged clash with the Hammers.

Vieira is unlikely to make too many changes for the match, though Kean Bryan and Olivier Ntcham could move into the starting eleven, having featured from the bench in Tuesday’s draw with Sunderland.

Visitors West Ham are yet to register a single point in their two outings so far, having succumbed to defeats at the hands of Spurs and Southampton.

In the meeting last season between the two sides at the Boleyn Ground, City came away with a point after Adam Drury’s strike was cancelled out by George Moncur’s 86th minute leveller.
