The 19-year-old, who featured for Manuel Pellegrini’s first-team in the pre-season tour of Scotland, will be available for selection ahead of the Hoops’ Champions League qualifier against Slovenian side Maribor.
The Belgian defender enjoyed an impressive 2013/14 campaign and as reward for his efforts, received a nomination for the EDS Player of the Year award.
Reflecting on the news, EDS manager Patrick Vieira told mcfc.co.uk he feels the decision will be hugely beneficial to the youngster.
“I really think Jason to Celtic is a good loan move,” Vieira declared. “It’s a great chance for him to go and get some experience.
“He’s going to a team who will have a chance to play in the Champions League or Europa League so it is a really positive move.”
Meanwhile, Greg Leigh will spend the first half of the season on loan to Crewe Alexandra.
The Sale-born left back has joined the Railwaymen until 5 January 2015, and becomes the second City player in two seasons to make a temporary switch to the Alex after EDS teammate George Evans, who made 24 appearances for Crewe during the 2013/14 campaign.
Greg impressed for Vieira’s side last term, and was repaid with a place on the first team tour to Scotland and the USA this summer, making four appearances.
Vieira added: “Greg needed the loan because I think he needs to challenge himself a little bit more at this stage of his career, so going to Crewe and playing league football will be a really good experience for him.”
The duo follow in the footsteps of Albert Rusnak, Emyr Huws, Ellis Plummer, Billy O’Brien and Marcos Lopes in embarking on a temporary move away from Manchester.
Rusnak flourished on his debut for Dutch side SC Cambuur, netting a goal with a stunning free-kick and securing a Man of the Match award in their 1-1 draw with FC Twente.
Speaking after the game, he declared: “It would have felt better if we had won.
“It [the Eredivisie] is a perfect division for young players. Here the teams play football. Moreover, in the Netherlands many players develop.
“Therefore it is a good opportunity for me.”
Elsewhere, Huws impressed Wigan manager and former City star Uwe Rosler, in the Latics’ 2-2 draw with Reading.
“I have to praise Emyr Huws,” Rosler stated. “He had only trained three days with us but he was outstanding. [It was] a fantastic performance. [He was] physically strong on the ball and he got us playing by getting the ball down in the first-half.”
And finally, Plummer made a stirring competitive debut for St Mirren, while Lopes made an appearance from the bench on 67 minutes for Lille but could not help the French outfit to find a winner, as they were held to a goalless draw with FC Metz.
