City EDS chase a twelfth win in-a-row when they travel to Newcastle United on Friday afternoon.

Patrick Vieira’s men last tasted defeat at under-21 level at the start of October and will be looking to advance to the semi-finals of the inaugural Barclays u21 Premier League Cup.

These two sides have yet to meet this season after their league fixture was postponed at the start of February.

Last season, City took one point from their two league meetings with the Tynesiders, although the Magpies will be hoping to end their run of three successive defeats.

Newcastle have lost to Spurs, Sunderland and Leicester in their last three games.

City booked their place in the quarter final of the tournament with their 2-0 win over West Brom back in December.

Before that, the Blues saw off Stoke City after extra-time, while Newcastle have beaten Leicester to reach the last eight after being given a bye through to the last 16.

Exeter City or Burnley await in the semi-final and either Arsenal or one of Wolverhampton Wanderers or Reading providing the opposition for the final of the competition.

This fixture will be played behind closed doors at Newcastle’s training ground, with kick-off taking place at 13:30.

We’ll have a full match report on the site shortly after full-time, as well as live Twitter updates on @MCFC.
